Photo Walk is all about walking around with your camera, identifying scenes of interest to you as the photographer and capturing those photos. This is a great activity to do as a group no matter what the size, share ideas and concepts with each other. It is also a great way to learn from others on how to better use your camera and take better photographs.
Yesterday, we did our very first Photo Walk. We organised a group of us at work to bring our Digital SLR cameras and go out for 30-40 minutes to shoot some photographs in Hyde Park in Sydney CBD. Although being peak afternoon (not ideal time for taking photographs as the sun is right above you) we managed to get some really interesting shots. Being the very first official Photo Walk it was quite invigorating and exciting to take pictures, we couldn’t wait to get back to our computers and see the end results. Below are some of the favourite and not so good shots. Its important to understand why the good shots worked, what was done right and also to especially identify what were the things that went wrong. Remember to learn from your mistakes.

Photograph with the moth is blurry as the camera didn’t focus on the moth, so because of wrong focus point this photo didn’t turn out as well as it could have. The water fountain was shot hand held with shutter speed of 0.5 second as without a tripod it was not possible to steady the camera. The end result was silky water but the photograph is not sharp, next time will need to take the tripod with me.
